Feeling like an outcast caught between two worlds, he discovers his true identity as a demon-angel hybrid child through his brother Vergil. The leader of an anti-establishment group enlightens him on the duality of his nature which paves way for gameplay mechanics where he can switch between angelic and demonic powers on demand manifesting them through his ever-changing Rebellion sword to drastically alter both combat and traversal.
